There’s a hidden agenda in the law allowing foreigners to buy land.

BOI Announcement No. 2/2565

Signed on August 8, 2022

Signed by that uncle-next-door who stayed PM for over 8 years.

.

It allows foreign juristic persons

with registered capital of at least 50 million baht

to own land #permanentOwnership up to 35 rai.

Divided as follows:

Residential land for executives — up to 10 rai

Residential land for employees — up to 30 rai

Office land — up to 5 rai

.

The executive and employee residences don’t have to be adjacent.

This means they can own land anywhere nationwide.

Office in Chonburi,

executive’s house in Chiang Mai.

.

In many areas, the land value exceeds the registered capital.

So to say this is purely for “investment” is definitely not true.

It clearly facilitates foreign investors

to own land outright,

causing massive disadvantages to local people.

.

The BOI still can’t provide an answer on

exactly how many rai are currently owned by foreigners.

(Estimated: hundreds of thousands of rai)
